The Corner is a concept store and market in SW Atlanta. With the opening of the Atlanta beltline, a popular walking path and restaurant/retail magnet, the community is feeling the effects of a changing neighborhood. Some positive – with new economic activity comes opportunity for growth. Some negative – rent hikes and the increased cost of living is forcing families to reconsider their place in the community.
The Corner’s goal is to give residents a space to grow with the community and begin a conversation at the grassroots level for the neighborhood. With designated retail space, reserved for current low-income residents, long-time residents can stay and take advantage of a booming neighborhood.
The identity is built around a modular typemark whose variant letter forms are pulled from the area’s rich variety of signage, both historic and contemporary. They are then randomized to symbolize dialogue.

Displaced is personal project and a byproduct of the research gathered while working on The Corner. The book examines Atlanta’s history of spatial and racial inequality.
